Less is more.

Less is more, more time, more freedom, more you.

We live in an abundant world full of stuff. Most it means absolutely fuck all, and I’m serious about that. Most of the thoughts that float into your consciousness have no value, unless they cause you to have a life changing epiphany.

A basic rule of thumb in personal finance is “spend less than you earn” this can be applied to just about everything. Spend less time with your arse-hole friends and more time with the few who actually care about you and aren’t afraid to tell you the truth. Spend less time on consuming and more time on creating and experiencing, you’ll create more opportunity for yourself by putting yourself first and indulging in your own development. Spend less time worrying about the future, uncertainty is all around, go do the thing you want and see what happens.

This goes hand-in-hand with “walk, don’t talk”
Rather than being caught in the trap of internal theoretical discussion, you instead go and try, saving yourself countless hours thinking and contemplating on your actions in the hopes to formulate the best case scenario that leaves you feeling okay with what you’re about to undertake. Just go and do it, you control neither fate nor other people.

Every person buried or cremated was once like you! They had hopes, and ambitions and dreams. Most of which probably didn’t come to fulfillment due to the internal narrative they allowed to sing to themselves i.e. coping.

When you narrow your freedoms, hone your focus onto a small few things that truly matter to you, your life becomes more meaningful by twenty fold. You stop worrying incessantly about trying to get it all done because you’ve actually got time to get it all done rather than wasting away in a perpetual circle-jerk of grandiose thought.

Now, I know there are people who get up at 4am, have their me time and then smash the day and that’s cool. But if that doesn’t align with your goals, why are you emulating them? The adult human body requires 7-9 hours of rest a night, that’s not taking into account deep sleep or REM as those are individually varied.

Less is more should be applied to everything you do in this day and age.
Less consummation – more creation
Less whining – more working
Less settling – more meaning
Less anything – more everything

With the age of bewilderment that we live in and the hyper consumerism that floods our market, you’d better start narrowing your freedom so you can focus or you risk being sucked into the abyss of expedience and cheap thrills that won’t get you were you want to go.

So fucking focus! Narrow your hobbies down to the ones you really love. Narrow your availability, so you have more time for the people you love. Narrow your freedom, discipline yourself and you’ll find that the freedom you’ve been looking for has been right in front of you this whole god damn fucking time.

Time is the ultimate commodity.

3 actionable takeaways
1. Focus, hone everything and consolidate your life so you can see things clearly
2. Narrow your freedom, garner self-discipline and gain freedom
